New Week, New Artist

Hey Little Lemon Lovers, thanks for coming back for another Monday feature: New Week, New Artist (or New Artist, New Week - say it however you want to!). If you missed last week's feature, you can see it here.

We are now on our fourth week (already!), and today I am introducing you to Helen, who runs two wonderful etsy shops, HMSDesign and FFFlowers. Both shops are wonderful, but I'm going to focus on what made me find Helen in the first place, her amazing funky fabric flowers. I just love the creativity and fun that goes into each of Helen's fabric flowers, and I love the buttons in the center, they are delightful.

Without further introduction, here's Helen!

Hello, my name is Helen and I love to create! I have tried many things in my time; dressmaking, knitting, crochet, quilting, embroidery, if its textile related I have probably had a go at it.
I live on the Wirral peninsula in NW England – I’m very lucky, it’s a great place to live with beautiful sea views and sunsets. If you are a golf fan we had the British Open here in 2006 - we had unusually hot and dry weather for it!
I first discovered etsy nearly 2 years ago through reading craft blogs. I was at home having given up work (in IT) to spend more time with my 2 sons, and looking for something to do with myself. After 6 months or so I plucked up the courage to open my first shop HMSDesign where I sell seashore inspired mixed media art, cards and handmade journals.
I soon realised that the photographing/listing took up a crazy amount of time and to have a shop that was in any way sustainable I would have to make some repeatable products. So I just carried on experimenting until I came up with my flowers. It took a fair bit of trying to get them just right and also to decide on the yarns to use; some which look as if they will be good just don’t work at all. And at the beginning of this year I opened FFFlowers and so far, so good!
For the future , I think there will be more and bigger flowers, and who knows what else? I don’t, yet…
Thank you so much, Helen, for being part of lemon drop studio's New Week, New Artist! Please go pay Helen's shops a visit, and then you can thank me later!

My lovely lemons, thank you so much for coming back again! I hope you guys are enjoying all the wonderful features. They have been so much fun to do, and make Mondays a little more exciting! You know, something to look forward too! I'll see you all again soon! Thanks for reading!

beautify the fridge

Check out lemon drop studio's latest - fabric covered button magnets - and boy are they fun! I just threw a set in the shop today, we'll see how they do! I love the fun fabrics, they are so sweet, simple and fun. Makes me think that you'll notice them and not the moldy leftovers inside the fridge!

I'll see ya'll tomorrow when I feature another great Etsy shop... stay tuned. In the meantime, I am off to enjoy the sunshine.
